Alan Thickes Wife Tanya Callau Breaks Her Silence on His Death

One week after his sudden death, the late actor Alan Thicke’s wife Tanya Callau has broken her silence.

“It is with gut wrenching sadness and unbelievable grief that I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the outpouring of love and support during this unimaginable time,” Tanya said in her statement to E! News.

“Through tears and smiles our dearest of family and friends came together at our home to celebrate the life of my sweet and devoted husband Alan Thicke. Yesterday, along with my step sons and our combined extended family, we laid my beloved husband, soul mate and the patriarch of our family to rest. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time of profound mourning,” the 40-year-old continued.

The actor—who was best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver in the beloved 1980s sitcom Growing Pains — passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 69 years old after he suffered a heart attack and collapsed during an afternoon hockey game with his youngest son, 19-year-old Carter Thicke.

He was transported to the Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, CA but he was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital. Alan is survived by his wife Tanya, as well as his sons Carter, Brennan Thicke and pop star Robin Thicke.

“My Father passed away today. He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had. Let’s all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in. We love you, Alan Thicke. Thank you for your love. Love, your grateful son,” the 39-year-old “Blurred Lines” singer wrote on Instagram.
