Dazed and Confused was released in theaters on Sept. 24, 1993.
The coming-of-age comedy follows the adventures of high school and junior high school students on the last day of classes on May 28, 1976. in the suburbs of Austin, Texas. As the senior students are preparing for the initiation of incoming freshman, the new students try to avoid — or at least survive — the hazing.
The film, written and directed by Richard Linklater, features an ensemble cast, including actors that would later become household names, including Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey, Parker Posey and Joey Lauren Adams.

Jason London as Randall "Pink" Floyd
London starred as Randall "Pink" Floyd, the star of the high school's football team. He is asked at the beginning of the film to sign a pledge that he promises to not do drugs or participate in any activity that would jeopardize the team's goal of winning the championship game in the upcoming season. Wooderson, who despite being in his early 20s, is Pink's friend who regularly hangs out with other high school students. Many of his high school-aged friends view him as cool and admire his nice car. Since playing Wooderson, McConaughey has starred in the romantic comedies The Wedding Planner, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Failure to Launch, Fool's Gold and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. His more recent film roles have been in dramas including The Lincoln Lawyer, The Paperboy, Mud, Magic Mike, The Wolf of Wall Street, Interstellar and Free State of Jones. McConaughey starred as Ron Woodroof in the 2013 drama Dallas Buyers Club, for which he won an Oscar, Critics' Choice Movie Award, Golden Globe and SAG Award. He then starred as Rust Cohle in the first season of HBO's True Detective, for which he was nominated for Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG awards. McConaughey starred in the recently released film White Boy Rick and can next be seen in Serenity and The Beach Bum.
Parker Posey as Darla Marks
Darla is an entitled senior who expects her freshman peers to respect her. She is also known for loving to party. Since her role as Darla, Posey went on to star in films including Sleep With Me, Party Girl, You've Got Mail, Scream 3, Josie and the Pussycats, For Your Consideration, Superman Returns, Broken English, Price Check, Grace of Monaco, Columbus and The Con Is On. She starred in the TV film Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay, which earned her a best supporting actress Golden Globe nomination. Posey has also had recurring roles on Boston Legal, The Return of Jezebel James, The Good Wife, Granite Flats and Search Party. The actress currently stars as June Harris on the Netflix series Lost in Space.
Joey Lauren Adams as Simone Kerr
Adams played Pink's girlfriend Simone. Since starring in Dazed and Confused, the actress has gone on to appear in the films Sleep With Me, Mallrats, Big Daddy, Harvard Man, The Big Empty, The Break-Up, Blue Caprice and Animal. Adams' most notable film role was as Alyssa Jones in the 1997 film Chasing Amy, which she starred in alongside her Dazed and Confused co-star Ben Affleck. The role earned her a best actress Golden Globe nomination. Her TV credits include guest appearances on Party Down, United States of Tara, Switched at Birth and Grey's Anatomy. Adams recently starred as Debbie Lynn Cooke on the CMT series Still the King from 2016-2017.
Milla Jovovich as Michelle Burroughs
Michelle is the girlfriend of the high school's drug dealer, Pickford. She has very few lines throughout the film, though the audience learns that she is a fan of art, music and smoking. Jovovich went on to star in a number of sci-fi and action pics. Her film credits include He Got Game; The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc; The Claim; Zoolander and its 2016 sequel; Resident Evil and its five follow-up films; No Good Deed; Ultraviolet; Dirty Girl; Bringing Up Bobby; and Shock and Awe. The actress will next appear in the supernatural superhero film Hellboy. In addition to her career as an actress, Jovovich has released two studio albums; The Divine Comedy debuted in 1994, while The People Tree Sessions was released in 1998.
Rory Cochrane as Ron Slater
Cochrane played the high school's residential stoner. While a number of characters smoke and become high at some point in the film, Slater is the only character to remain under the influence for its entirety. Following his role as Slater, the actor went on to star in Empire Records, Dogtown, A Scanner Darkly, Bringing Up Bobby, Argo, The Most Hated Woman in America, Hostiles and The Outsiders. He recently appeared as Byrd in White Boy Rick. Cochrane's most notable TV credit is his role as Detective Timothy Speedle on CSI: Miami.
Ben Affleck as Fred O'Bannion
Affleck played O'Bannion, a super senior that leads the attack on Mitch in the beginning of the movie. Since Dazed and Confused, Affleck has made quite the name for himself in Hollywood. He went on to star in such films as Chasing Amy, Good Will Hunting, Armageddon, Shakespeare in Love, Pearl Harbor, Daredevil, Gigli, Hollywoodland, Gone Girl and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In addition to starring in Good Will Hunting, Affleck co-wrote the film with fellow star Matt Damon, and the pair won an Academy Award for best original screenplay. Affleck has also had a successful career as a director. He made his helming debut with the 2007 film Gone Baby Gone, and went on to direct 2010's The Town and 2012's Argo, both of which he starred in, with the latter film winning the Oscar for best picture. From 2000-2007, Affleck, Damon, Chris Moore and Sean Bailey ran the production company LivePlanet, which produced films like American Pie 2, The Emperor's Club, Gone Baby Gone and Running the Sahara, as well as the TV series Project Greenlight and Push, Nevada. Wiley Wiggins as Mitch Kramer
Wiggins played freshman Mitch Kramer, who initially avoids the senior students' hazing attempts but is later violently paddled at a baseball game. Pink offers to give the injured Mitch a ride home and takes the freshman under his wing. Mitch drinks his first beer and tries marijuana while spending time with the football player. Since starring in Dazed and Confused, Wiggins has acted in Boys, Plastic Utopia, Waking Life, Computer Chess and Social Animals. In addition to acting, he has produced the projects The Outlaw Son, Frontier and The Art Show.
Michelle Burke as Jodi Kramer
Jodi is Mitch's older sister. While she participates in the hazing of the new students, she isn't as involved as some of her peers. Since starring as Jodi, Burke has appeared in the films Major League II, The Last Word, Midnight in Saint Petersburg, Telling You and LOL. Her TV acting credits include guest appearances on Tales From the Crypt, Diagnosis: Murder, Sliders, The Division and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. She also starred as Josephine "Jo" Bhaer on the PAX TV series Little Men from 1998-1999.
Anthony Rapp as Tony Olson
Tony is part of the intellectual trio that includes Mike and Cynthia. He is visibly uncomfortable around others and is interested in freshman Sabrina. Following his role in Dazed and Confused, Rapp went on to originate the role of Mark Cohen in the Broadway musical Rent. He later reprised the role in the 2005 film adaptation. Rapp's other Broadway credits include You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and If/Then. His film credits include Twister, A Beautiful Mind, The Other Woman and Junction. The actor has made guest appearances on the TV shows Spin City, The X-Files, Kidnapped, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Good Fight and 13 Reasons Why. He also starred as Lieutenant Paul Stamets on the first season of Star Trek: Discovery. In addition to acting, Rapp released the album Look Around in 2000 and a memoir titled Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss and the Musical Rent in 2006. Adam Goldberg as Mike Newhouse
Goldberg played nerd Mike Newhouse. The character often watches the hazing go down as a spectator, though he and his friends Cynthia and Tony decide to get in on the action and attend the keg party that is held at the end of the night. Following his turn in Dazed and Confused, Goldberg went on to star in films including Saving Private Ryan, All Over the Guy, A Beautiful Mind, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Rebirth, Between Us and Once Upon a Time in Venice. His next film role will be as the Snitch in Running With the Devil. Goldberg wrote, produced and directed the 2003 film I Love Your Work, as well as directed and starred in the 2015 film No Way Jose. The actor's TV credits include the recurring role as Eddie on Friends, as James "Jimmy" Costa on Joey and as Mr. Numbers on Fargo. Goldberg has also starred on a number of short-lived series, including Double Rush, Relativity, The $treet, The Unusuals, The Jim Gaffigan Show and Taken.

Cynthia acts as an almost maternal figure to Mike and Tony, whom she regularly drives around and pays for their food. She is romantically interested in Wooderson. Since starring as Cynthia, Ribisi has acted in films including The Brady Bunch Movie, Kicking and Screaming, The Size of Watermelons, Some Girl, Pleasantville, True Crime and According to Spencer.
