‘Insecure’ Season 4 ‘Lowkey Trippin’ centered around Molly Carter
Lowkey Trippin’ opened from Molly Carter’s (Yvonne Orji) perspective when Issa Dee (Issa Rae) purposely left the restaurant at the end of the previous episode to avoid seeing her friend.
The lawyer prepared herself to acknowledge Issa but watched her friend promptly turn on her heels and get back into her car. However, she didn’t have time to stew on the situation because she had to fit in a last-minute meeting before going on vacation to Mexico with Andrew (Alexander Hodge).
After the couple enjoyed a beautiful night on the town with Andrew’s brother Victor (Stephen Oyoung) and his wife, Lydia (Camille Chen), he received a Facetime call from his roommate, Nathan (Kendrick Sampson). Molly heard Issa in the background and claimed her friend loved to be “messy” by hanging out with Nathan after he ghosted her.
However, Andrew stood up for his roommate and revealed he withdrew from Issa because of mental health issues going on at the time. The following day at the resort pool, an employee refused to give Molly a towel without seeing her keycard.
Victor showed his and vouched for her, but the situation still annoyed the lawyer. She then mentioned how race played a factor because the employee gave a white couple towels without seeing their keycard, striking a nerve with Victor, who argued the staffer was only doing her job.
When the couple returned to California from their weekend trip, they saw Lawrence (Jay Ellis) at the airport. After an awkward encounter and introduction to Andrew, he walked away and called someone on the phone, seemingly to reconcile.
