Actor Johnny Lewis is dead at the age of 28, TMZ reports.
Lewis, known for his roles on Sons of Anarchy and The O.C. as well as dating Katy Perry, was found Wednesday in a driveway in Los Feliz, the site says; an elderly woman was found beaten to death inside the home to which the driveway led.

Authorities believe that Lewis, who they say was on some sort of drugs — perhaps PCP or crystal meth — attacked the woman and then, after struggling with two men, ran up to the roof.
It is believed that he fell off the roof to his death. He was renting a room from the 81-year old woman.

Kurt Sutter tweeted about the death this morning, expressing sadness but not shock about Lewis’s demise.
“not sure if folks know this yet, but johnny lewis (halfsack) died last night. the sad irony of it happening two days after opie’s death is not lost on me. it was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way. i wish i could say that i was shocked by the events last night, but i was not. i am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path. yes, it’s day or mourning, but it’s also a day of awareness and gratitude. sadly, some of us carry the message by dying.”

Lewis, who was featured in 26 episodes of Sons of Anarchy, played a prospect hoping to join the California motorcycle club. His character was killed off in the season two finale. Sutter later said in interviews that the death was not for sensationalism but because Lewis had wanted out of his contract.
He also appeared on nine episodes of The O.C. and played parts in the movies The Runaways and Lovely Molly.
