Josh Freeman Playing For The Vikings Now

September 2024 · 1 minute read

Josh Freeman Josh Freeman has signed a one-year deal worth $3 million with the Minnesota Vikings.

ProFootball Talk’s Mike Floris broke the news on NBC’s Sunday Night Football post-game show.

The decision catches some by surprise because the Vikings already have Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel–two capable quarterbacks on the roster.

With two quarterbacks already in the rotation, it is safe to say that he won’t be providing any immediate upgrades to the Vikings offense.

According to NFL Insider Jay Glazer, the Vikings wanted Freeman for two years, but only got him for one.

Vikings wanted him for a 2 year deal but josh wanted 1. It’s on Ponder to play his butt off to keep his job.

Still, The Viking are obviously interested, and want to see what Freeman can do. It is very possible, If he consistently plays at a high level, that Freeman could overtake Ponder and Cassel as starting quarterback.

After showing great potential early in the league, Freeman became an underachiever while with Tampa Bay. Now he will get a fresh start to rebuild his brand for next season.
