We explain exactly how to skip the campaign with a new character in Diablo 4, where you spawn, and what carries over.

Developer Blizzard, before the launch of Diablo 4, has confirmed that you can skip the game's massive story campaign (expected 35 hours to beat). During our first playthrough, however, we did manage to beat the campaign in 25 hours. Even so, if you want to skip the Diablo 4 campaign with a new character, we've got you covered.
This guide explains how you can unlock the Diablo 4 campaign skip feature, where you spawn with a new character, and what carries over from one character to another, so let's get started.
Update on 14 June 2023: We've updated this article with the latest info on skipping Diablo 4's story and the effects for alt characters.
How To Unlock Diablo 4 Campaign Skip Feature
Yes, we created a character called Skippy for this article because why not? So to unlock the Diablo 4 Campaign skip feature, the only thing you will need to do is complete the game's story once.
After the final boss falls with any character, you can create a new "alt" from the main menu and choose its look. As you can see from the image above, a new option will appear beneath Hardcore, allowing you to skip the campaign with this Diablo 4 character entirely.
It is important to note that skipping Diablo 4's story with your first character is impossible. Further, there are some things you should probably know about this feature, which we discuss in the next section of our guide.
Skipping The Story in Diablo 4: Spawn & Carry Over Progress
You probably already know that Altars of Lilith stats bonuses carry over to all your Diablo 4 characters. However, the following also carry over, meaning your alt can become quite powerful very quickly:
- Obols acquired.
- Skill points from Renown system.
- Potion capacity increase from Renown system.
- Red Dust from Field of Hatred PvP.
- Gold farmed.
After we skipped the campaign with "Skippy," we had several skill points to spend to unlock core abilities instantly. We also had over 600,000 Gold and a bunch of Obols to spend at the Purveyor of Curiosities.
If you skip the campaign in Diablo 4, you won't have to go through the introduction. Instead, you spawn directly in Kyovashad (the main city) at the Waypoint and can run out to start doing dungeons, sidequests, events, and more without any delay.
From our experience, leveling an alt to 50 takes about 15 hours, instead of the 25 hours, it took by following the campaign with our first character.
Speaking of the story, you can check out the "Story Launch Trailer" for the game below in case you've missed it.
That's everything you need to know to skip the Diablo 4 campaign with relative ease, including where an alt character using this feature will spawn and what it brings over from your main character. If anything changes, we will endeavor to update this article.
